About Kathelijne Hes
Kathelijne Hes (1970) works as an independent artist since 1996. Her work is diverse - both figurative and abstract, both dramatic and observing - but her almost physical style makes a painting always recognizable as "typical Hes".
Materials like sand, gypsum, paint and foam are leading in Kathalijne's work. Besides material, colour plays an important role. "The less colour you use, the more dominant the colour is present," Kathalijne says. The colours she uses are full, earthly, almost violent; they reinforce contrast and form and cause depth and movement: dynamics!
